Happy is renewed for a 2nd season!!!
by Nathan'ette Burdine: January 31, 2018

On Monday, the folks over at "Happy" sent out a tweet letting folks know they are getting a second season.

The show is based on Grant Morrison’s and Darick Robertson’s novel Happy . Happy is an imaginary flying horse (Patton Oswalt) who’s helping an ex-cop, Nick Sax (Christopher Meloni), to find Happy’s BFF and Sax’s daughter Hailey (Bryce Lorenzo).

Life’s SNAFUs kept Sax from seeing his daughter. Sax fell on hard times, was fired from the police force, got into drugs and sex and non-sponsored government killing, and his wife Amanda (Medina Senghore) left him.

And it’s through the unfortunate circumstance of Hailey getting kidnapped that Sax learns about her from her imaginary friend Happy.

I know. A grown man can see his child’s imaginary friend. But, that’s what hard times will do to a person.

Hard times will open the mind to things that good times keep the mind closed off to.

Sax and Happy later team up with Sax’s old partner/ex-girlfriend Meredith (Lili Mirojnick), as well as Sax’s ex-wife Amanda, in order to find Hailey.

The whole situation turns out to be bigger and freakier than any of them expected.

Gangsters, witchcraft, sex fiends, and a TV personality are all involved in what is increasingly looking like a black market for folks who want children.

These crazy humans literally package the children in a box like a doll, and then ship the children to their new families.

The show wraps up tonight. So, we’ll all find out how things end this season. Now, the one thing I can tell y’all for sure is that I’m happy as a mud about "Happy" staying on air for at least another year.

Happy keeps me rolling. There’s never a dull moment. From Happy’s first introduction to Nick, Blue (Ritchie Coster) trying to convince Meredith that he’s important because he’s “the god-damn grape,” Smoothie’s (Patrick Fischler) crazy ass, Santa’s (Joseph D. Reitman) freaky talent of talking like a little girl, to Mikey (Gus Halper) coming back from the dead every single episode of "Happy" has hurt my sides from laughing so hard.

Not to steer y’all wrong, "Happy" does have some serious moments; although the serious moments are funny as well.

Yup, Smoothie making Nick part of the #MeToo movement was wrong, nasty, and funny all at the same damn time.

Y’ALL KNOW IT! Y’ALL WERE LAUGHING TOO! I like to take this time to say that I’m not making fun of the light the #MeToo movement shined on sexual harassment and sexual assault.

I’m just saying that Smoothie not having his dick and using a dildo to torture Nick was funny.

Plus, somebody needs to find out who chopped off Smoothie’s dick. Yup, Smoothie is a victim too.

Hm, I guess Smoothie could be a part of the #MeToo movement if he didn’t love making other folks part of the #MeToo movement.

But that’s the thing about Happy, the show takes things that are fucked up and use humor in order to help folks understand just how fucked up shit is.

It’s genius I tell ya! GENIUS! And I, for one, am glad that we will continue to see the genius of Happy and his crew next year.
